Why is Anime so good?! Japan puts out hit after hit in animation but it's oncr in a blue moon where the US puts out something of comparable quality. Western media went nuts over ATLA but I can think of ten Animes off the top of my head having an on-par story.

I see this anime like a life growing metaphor, after he is stabbed by his own mother he die, resurrect and then he is different, more a coldblooded fighter vs the horror of the outside world, like a transition from youth to adulthood and seems no coincidence he has to fight and kill her mother. Japanese culture has serious feelings about family and individual growth and emancipation.

This series always had the most emotional music for being what it is. I swear, it's like something you'd hear in a triple A RPG by Square, in the 90s. It doesn't really fit, yet it's it's so heart warming. Can't explain it. Anyone else feel that way?
